About
Lisa Abner
Since 2014, I have been working in the field of mental health with children, adolescents, and adults in multiple settings. What I have found out throughout these years is that many people walk around with unresolved trauma that oftentimes they are not aware of, but are impacted by. It can be due to a loss of a loved one, natural disaster, health problems, family conflicts, community violence, abuse (all kinds), racial disparities, and foreign conflicts. These traumas can cause you to have mental blocks that impact all areas of life. I have dedicated my work and this practice to helping you on this journey of finding mental peace and resolution.
I use a strength based, person-centered approach that will allow you to feel empowered to deal with the day to day stressors of life. I believe in working with you to help you realize that all the tools you need are inside of you, it’s my job to show you them. I am all about meeting you where you are in this journey and through the use of different modalities and interventions, helping you get to where you want to be. I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Adoption Competent Therapist, and a National Certified Counselor. I also am a clinical supervisor, training, and speaker.
I enjoy working with adolescents and adults to help them clear out the blocks that keep them from being the people they dream of becoming. I also train counselors and have done speaking engagements.
Experience

A therapist for 7 years, I worked my way to become a masters level graduate of Walden University. As a result, I’ve served hundreds of clients from a broad spectrum of socio-economic, cultural, sexual, and faith orientations. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have worked in community mental health settings which have given me the tools to provide services to a diverse range of clients. I have also developed programs that are geared towards providing specialized services to some of our most venerable populations. I will work tirelessly to ensure you are getting the best care I can provide.
Through years of training and experience, I bring a deep understanding of:

-
Trauma and how it impacts the brain and the body.
-
The adult and childhood developmental process,
-
The complexity of adoption
-
And communication, conflict resolution and parenting strategies for families.
